The title of famous tale “The Princess and the Pea”, transforms into “The Pea and The Princess” in the stage adaptation by Bulgarian playwright Atanas Ilkov. This is definitely our longest standing performance, still performed on this stage, as it was made in 1993.
The story of a young prince, ripe for marriage, so his parents, the King and the Queen have decided to find him a suitable bride. According to old customs, a true princess, is the one with a skin so soft, that she is able to feel a pea under the mattress. Even though this is a two-person performance, the atmosphere is as if there is a bigger cast involved. Vladimir Lazovski and Izabela Novotni manage to make the audience laugh until they cry each time.
In the period of 1994 to 1998, the show “The Pea and the Princess” has been awarded 4 times, amongst which a Grand Prix at the International Festival Burborak 94’ in Smolen, Bulgaria.
