Another mandatory school read, this time for the youngest.

 

The famous story of the Ugly Duckling, by Andersen, dramatized, and directed by Dejan Damjanovski, launched Emra Kurtishova in the title role, as one of the newest additions to the Children and Youth Theatre’s ensemble. She managed to prove to be up to the challenge, and transformed beautifully on stage as both an ugly duckling and a beautiful swan.

The baby swan, that ended up in a duck’s nest, learns about cruelty and bullying at the beginning of his quest.  He is mocked because differences in appearance, and decides to search for happiness and acceptance somewhere else. The moral of the story is hold your head up when times are tough, and you also might as   The Ugly Duckling, find your flock at the end, and turn into a beautiful swan.
